Canadian born Toronto resident artist Deb Wiles is a graduate of Ontario College of Art and Design. Deb has been involved with art making and production since she was an infant.
“My maternal grandparents were studio photographers in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. They documented important events in the town and developed photographs for everyone. Often I slept in my bassinet in the darkroom as they worked. On my grandmothers knee I sloshed the photo paper in the developer and watched the images come up. I learned everything one needs to know about images around the same time I could recite the alphabet.”
Deb is a multi - disciplinary artist, which means that she works in many mediums. Currently she teaches drawing and painting classes for children and adults in the Annex, paints, and designs and installs gardens. Currently she has work up at the Bloor / Spadina 2nd Cup (N side) and at Sheena’s Place. This summer Deb is headed east to begin construction of the Trident International Artist’s Retreat, her new pet project.
