"My son (7) is very into art and very picky about taking classes. He refused to finish a cartooning class he was once in because "you just draw what you want, they don't teach you anything." I have had no such complaints since he's been at Deb's; he looks forward eagerly to every class. Bravo!" - Mitch Moldofsky
“My two boys (age 4 and 7) attended a trial class. My expectations were low as they are quite timid with new experiences and not at all comfortable with people they don’t know well. Imagine my surprise when my four year old comes out after an hour class asking to stay longer. They instantly warmed to Deb and her inviting and enriching environment. I would definitely recommend this experience to others.”-Amanda Monroe-Kent
"I love going to Deb's class because I learn new
ways to draw and I make
cool art stuff to take home. Deb's house is really fun!"- Berke
Berry, 7 years
"I love the painting, the drawing and the laughing." - Roxy Moon, 6 years

The aim of Marks of Perception is bring individuals to the point in their creative development where they are comfortable with themselves, and confident in their creative abilities. To do this I teach new techniques to budding artists. With these techniques I coach the individual to render their perception of the world. Through practice they produce what they desire to produce. Through this process the individual gains confidence in their creativity; satisfaction, and a sense of accomplishment with their work.
“ The relationship between high self esteem and unfettered creativity is very strong.” - Dorothy Corkille Briggs

"Deb teaches my son traditional art
fundamentals but she also encourages
him to experiment and develop his own style. Berke's new skills have
given him a sense of pride and he is much more confident in his art
related school assignments."- Maeve
Quaid, D.Phil (Oxford), parent
"Art day with Deb is Sara's favorite
day of the week.
From still life with Mr. Potato Head to a drawing of
her dreams, Sara returns home every week full of
energy and conversation about her fabulous art class."
Chella, parent
Deborah puts the fun in art. Or is that the art in fun? She has enchanted my daughter, Bella. For an hour every week Bella is an artist doing what artists do. Bella cherishes that hour. So do we. -Andy, parent
"I have known Deb for many years and have always been inspired by her creative energy. It encompasses her whole life; her work, her gardens, her home, her cuisine and her approach to life ooze with the bohemian spirit! Unconventional begins to describe Deb Wiles' life of artistic self-expression and I love it. I also love that my child can hang out and learn in the company of someone with a different approach to life than the main stream educators. What a fantastic opportunity! I feel so fortunate to have Deb's infectious lust for colour ameliorate my child's life." - Sandy Moon, parent
"I had always wanted to draw and from time to time I picked up a pencil
and tried it with very limited results. This winter I had to good fortune
to both have time off and to find a really talented teacher right under my
nose, well, across the street from me. So armed with pencil and
paper Deb took on the daunting ask of teaching me some of the rudiments of
drawing. After four classes with her, I am not now, or am I likely to be,
through no fault of Deb's, destined to become a great artist but thanks to
her I am longer afraid to put pencil to paper and as a result of this I
look forward to countless hours of pure enjoyment creating art for my
sake." -Roy (adult
student)
"We have used Deb Wiles for several Art Instruction sessions. I found her approach with our Seniors very professional and yet relaxed. Deb was flexible on programming, and adapted to the abilities and interests of the individuals present. It was a pleasure to meet her, and I would definitely recommend her services."- Bethany Vallentin, Interim Social &Activation Director The Briton House Retirement Centre
